At the Winter Olympics, for the start, Great Britain will have the crucial hammer of their men’s curling semi-final with one game to spare after securing a top-two finish in the round-robin phase by beating the Russian Olympic Committee 8-6.

Lower than second, Bruce Mouat’s rink cannot drop, at the beginning of their last-four tie, meaning they will have the last stone advantage. Against Canada, GB is now top of the standings with one match remaining. First will play fourth, then second and taking on third, the only team they have lost to, meaning Britain is currently on course to face the USA.

Into a medal earlier in the Games, Mouat admitted that from the mixed doubles, it was a struggle to bounce back, where he and Jen Dodds failed to turn a semi-final appearance.
